Jacques Duphly. Pièces de Clavecin.
Jean-Patrice Brosse, antique harpsichord by Christian Kroll
(1774). Vols. 2 and 3 were reviewed by David Hansell in Early
Music Review 101:28 (June 2004): "Much of the playing has a
quasi-Leonhardt magisterial quality with only a few untidy
releases of large chords (scarcely noticeable at normal volumes)
that jar in any way. . . . I was gripped and truly moved by much
of these recitals, which are enhanced by excellent notes." This
set is clearly superior to the only prior complete recording, by
Yannick Le Gaillard on Adda/Accord.
