Joseph-Hector Fiocco (1703-1741). Lamentations du Jeudi Saint. Syrius SYR 141330 (1 CD 1997). Catherine Greuillet, soprano. Maurizio Buraglia, theorbo & baritone lute; Dominque Dujardin, cello; Frank van Lamsweerde, cello; Christine Payeux, bass viol & double bass; Jean-Christophe Leclère, organ. This is a superb recording that I highly recommend. It includes three of the nine Leçons de Ténèbres left by Fiocco, plus tombeaux for lute by Gallot, Mouton and De Visée. The lamentations are a blend of Italian and French styles and require vocal virtuosity. The cello accompaniments provide a mid-bass dominance similar in balance to the 18th Century French harpsichord. US | UK | DE | FR | CA | JP
