Johann David Heinichen. La Pace di Kamberga (Venice 1716, first performed in Innsbruck 1717). KammerTon KT 2009 (2 CDs 2000). Batzdorfer Hofkapelle. San Filippo Benizzi: Britta Schwarz, contralto; Ridolfo: Hannes Böhm, tenor; Premislao III detta Ottocaro: Infolf Seidel, bass; Cunegonda: Cecilia Nanneson, soprano. Favorably reviewed by BC at EMR 74:22 (10/01), who criticized the complete lack of ornamentation in da capos. In addition, the tempos are painfully slow. Nevertheless, it is of great interest as the only major secular vocal work by Heinichen recorded to date. In light of the "trumpet duet" without trumpet, it seems that Heinichen may have expected to have a trumpeter available, but in the absence of a trumpet, left the aria referring to the "tromba" with the usual trumpet intervals.
