Books

Eleanor Selfridge-Field. The Works of Benedetto and Alessandro Marcello: a Thematic Catalogue. With commentary on the composers, repertory and sources. Oxford University Press, 1990. 517 pages. This book provides incipits for opening movements only. Thus, for example, only four incipits are furnished for Arianna -- for the four movements of the opening sinfonia. A supplementary thematic catalogue of all known arias, choruses and other movements by the Marcellos would be quite useful. US | UK
